a few days late...

Merry Christmas!!!

7 pm TONIGHT!

Don't miss it! Tonight is Bedford's first ever Miss Bedford Competition, and guess who is in it... ME! I'm a little nervous, but that's good, I think that to do well and keep you on your toes a little nerves is good nerves. (I'm just worried about a few of the girls that have never been on stage infront of a large group of people...) The competition consists of formal wear, a dance, business attire, a talent, and for those who make it past the first elimination, a question and answer. Wish me luck! ...And pray that the show runs smoothly and everyone can do their best, thanks!

Christmas!!!

Christmas is coming!!!!
Are you done with your shopping?!?

...mock rock...

Wow... It went a lot better then I was expecting! I'll post pictures in the next day or so (When I post sometime at my house, I'm at church at the moment).
N*SNYC-I'm so proud of you guys! You all did AWESOME

First service Kids' Street went well. The kids were a little inattentive, but we got them going after a few minutes. I miss Kids' Street, I haven't been as involved with it as I have been in the past because of particular reasons, but I still love all those kids! Caleb is hyped to have the angel Gabriel making a reappearance in the Kids' Street Christmas Program. I've been informed that his tux will be back too. It should be a good show!

Christmas is in 15 days! AH.......

~Mock Rock Tomorrow~

For the first time in Bedford's history we are having a giant lip-syncing contest, aka: Mock Rock! There are 4 groups in it: Ok Go, Martha and the Vendettas (i think), NSYNC, and Ali & AJ. I saw all of the numbers today during rehearsal and I was surprised on how entertaining they really are! I'm excited for our four mini shows tomorrow, don't worry I will post pictures of it! I am the MC of the event, basically the Ryan Seacrest of American Idol. Wish me luck!... Better yet, just pray that the event goes smoothly and the nerves aren't too high.
Thanks!!!

ps. Happy December! Christmas is only 18 days away!!!!

update on life:

It's been pretty busy around here lately. My college classes will be coming to an end in the next few weeks. I'll be taking non-verbal communication and sociology next semester. Should be interesting. High school is still high school... drama filled, not much you can do about that. But next Friday we are having our fist ever Mock Rock. It is one giant lip-syncing contest and I am MCing it. It should be good for a few laughs. A group of boys from Crossroads have entered it. I've seen their act, they're good! Eventhough they do do those N*SYNC move a little too well... jk, you all look awesome!
Competitive cheer season started a few weeks ago. I'll be posting pics and competition dates. This year we're hosting a competition at the high school on Jan 27, EVERYONE should come out! Don't worry, I'll keep reminding you.
Christmas is less than a month away... I can't believe it, time flies. I'm off to practice! Have a good evening everyone!

isn't he cute...

Football season is over...

Last night we had our football season cheer banquet. Good people, good food, good times... Our senior cake was the best one yet! And yes that is a picture of me eating my face. Competitive tryouts are Monday, I can't wait for this season! Hopefully we can make it this year to States! This year we are hosting a meet at the high school, in late January I think. I am excited for it! We haven't had one at our school since I've been in the high school. I'll post about when it comes up so you all can come out to support!

You'll never guess what these dresses were made out of...

The first picture won a $500 prize for the best dress made out of toilet paper. The next two pictures are of the second place winner. She received a $200 prize, (I think her dress should of won!) The rest of the dresses shown came in honorable mention, but they are still amazing! Toilet paper?!? Who would of ever thought?

'because we already don't have enough fried foods...'

NEW YORK, Oct 26 (Reuters Life!) - A new fast food is making its debut at U.S. fairs this fall -- fried Coke.
Abel Gonzales, 36, a computer analyst from Dallas, tried about 15 different varieties before coming up with his perfect recipe -- a batter mix made with Coca-Cola syrup, a drizzle of strawberry syrup, and some strawberries.
Balls of the batter are then deep-fried, ending up like ping-pong ball sized doughnuts which are then served in a cup, topped with Coca-Cola syrup, whipped cream, cinnamon sugar and a cherry on the top.
"It tastes great," said Sue Gooding, a spokeswoman for the State Fair of Texas where Gonzales' fried Coke made its debut this fall. "It was a huge success."

It's that time already?!?

Snowflakes? Frost?? Ice on my windshield?!? Fall is my favorite season and I think it got chipped this year. The only good thing about it getting cold outside is that it means Christmas is coming. We still have 60 days until Christmas, so I think that the cold weather should hold off for at least another 40 days...

*sidenote* Bring on Christmas music!!!

a 7x9 inch opening

A toddler gets stuck in a toy machine

When the 3-year-old Austin, Minn. boy crawled through the discharge chute of a Toy Chest claw machine at a Godfather's Pizza here, he ended up on the other side of the glass surrounded by stuffed animals. Rescuers had to pry the door open to get Devin out, though the boy was in no hurry to leave. "When we got it open, he didn't want to come out," Fire Chief Dan Wilson said Tuesday. "One of my firefighters had to reach inside and get him. He was happy in there."

Chef makes wedding gown with cream puffs

Baker Valentyn Shtefano and his bride Viktoriya show off her wedding gown, which Shtefano made out of flour, eggs, sugar and caramel in the western Ukrainian city of Uzhhorod in Aug. 27, 2006. The edible dress, made of 1,500 cream puffs and weighing in at 20 pounds (9 kilograms), took the 28-year-old baker two months to make. (AP Photo)

UZHHOROD, Ukraine Oct 12, 2006 (AP)— Valentyn Shtefano's pastries were known for attracting stares and giggles as well as lip-smacking murmurs. But even his fiancee was surprised when Shtefano told her he was making her wedding dress out of flour, eggs, sugar and caramel.

The dress made of 1,500 cream puffs and weighing 20 pounds took the 28-year-old baker two months to make, and by the end of the wedding reception, bride Viktoriya said she didn't want to take it off.

Fall

I love the Fall season. The leaves change colors, the crisp air, and the pumpkins... (Yes pumpkins, I want to carve one!) This picture is of my neighbors tree and my dog Cody. Yes, he is a DOG not a abnormally large rabbit.

unexpected generosity

Sunday after church a group of us decided to head out to good-ol-Uncle John’s Pancake House. This was my first experience there (I had been told that I was missing out and haven’t lived till I went) and I must say that it exceeded my expectations of it.

After our table’s food had arrived, our waitress brought out three extra plates of Uncle John’s Potatoes. We were a little lost, none of us had ordered them, but the waitress said that her manager told her to bring these out to our table…free food... can’t complain! (If you go there get the potatoes, they are a heart attack on a plate…but SO good!) We finish up our meal, get the bills, and head up to the register to pay. The cashier told the first person in line, from our table, that were good our table has been covered. WHAT?!?

She went on to say that her head manager came up to her and said that he was going to pay for all of our meals. We asked her if she could get the manager so we could thank him but he had just stepped out to do a few errands. I thought it was just so cool that someone we do this for a group of high/college kids and we have no idea why he did pay for our meal. We stopped next door to get a Thank You card so it would be there when he came back.

i like it...

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Fellow bloggers

due to their lack of updating a few people are at risk of being taking off of my link list. Beware those who don't update, the time is coming to a end soon.

On a happier note: Check out Ashley's or Andy's blog! They have lacked in updating lately, but they are trying to make up for it! Comments with a few encouraging words from fellow bloggers maybe all they need to keep updating. Keep on updating people!

a favorite...

One of my new favorite shows! It's on Tuesday nights, 8-9:30. Any fans out there?
This week Vivica Fox got voted off, I think that she was one of their stronger dancers this season. Sara Evens, I love your country music, but I think it is time that you exit the dance floor. Then we have Jerry Springer. He is making a great effort and he made it as far as he said that he wanted to go on the show. He wanted to learn the waltz for his daughters wedding and that was last weeks dance, he did what he came to do, now he has been asking to be voted off! (He says he's in too much pain from the dances, understandable) I think that we all should respect that and let him leave. Plus, we'll be keeping the better dancers.
Mario Lopez is my favorite celeb dancer! He's from the show Saved By the Bell, (Slater). So far in the competition, I think he has proved himself as the best natural dancer on the show. Joey Lawrence comes to a close second.

a letter

Wasn't it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army ring their bells in front of their stores?

Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote.

"Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event.

We received the following reply from the local TARGET management:
"Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education."

So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general, do not meet their donation criteria, then something is reall y wrong at this TARGET store. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.

As a follow-up, I E-mailed the TARGET U.S. Corporate Headquarters and their response was the same. That's their national policy.

Then I looked into the company further. They will not allow the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would not allow families of employees who were called up for active duty to continue their insurance coverage while they were on military service. Then as I dig further,

TARGET is a French-owned corporation.

Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET cannot support American Veterans, then why should my family and I support their stores by spending our hard earned American dollars! And, have their profits sent to France .

Without the American Vets, where would France be today?

"They, most likely would be speaking German and trading in Deutsch Marks"

Sincerely,
Dick Forrey

Pic of the Day from Sierra

I want to give a shout out to my friend Serria! She just got back from a trip to NYC, check out her blog for pics!

This one's for the girls...

Last Friday we had our last home football game, surprisingly we won! I'm glad the boys were able to finish with a win. It was Senior Night, always a bonus when you win. I think that we still have 3 more football games left in our season, so if you missed them, check BedfordSports.com and come on out!

*Big Ball*
The Seniors (Black & White) vs The Juniors (Red & Grey)
Big Ball was the highlight of homecoming week to me. The game itself is kinda dumb, trying to toss around a giant ball from endzone to endzone, But getting ready was half the fun! Hours of makeup, teasing, and hair-die... I can't believe people use to tease their hair on an every day basis, crazy!
To see more pictures of Big Ball, go to jsopko.photosite.com

The Homecoming theme was 007, Casino Royale (Representing our Senior class, graduating in 07). We made lots of posters reflecting the theme, then we had our random ones... 11-6am... lots of randomness. It was fun kids, lots of memories!

This past week has been busy for me! Big Ball was last nightm it was a blast! I"ll be posting some more pictures of that when I find the time. But for now I just wanted to post a quick little note so you all wont stop checking my site, I'm off to practice, LATER!

hola!

Sorry for the lack of post!
Things have been busy lately with school and everything. Friday night Bedford won their football game against Dexter! It was surprising! The score was 50-something to 30-something, are we going to be seeing a new trend for Bedford…?
After the game the high school had a lock in to decorate the school for homecoming week, I thought it went well. The school is now ready for homecoming! …kinda… But it was a lot of fun, I was able to hang out with some friends of mine that I haven’t in awhile. (I’ll def post some pictures of it later this week)
Today was Crossroads Car Show. I thought it went well for the most part, I was expecting a little bit more from it, but I still think it ended out okay. I was a little disappointed in the lack of advertising this year than the past years. Normally I’d be hearing about the car show on the radio and in the papers, but this year I don’t think we had as much as in previous years. I may have just missed them. (I’ll post some pics later this week from it)
